Totally agree.
My dogs, when I was wee, were sort-of rescues: dogs that would have been put down or "lost" by the farmers who owned the parents. They were excellent.
My latest dog, a good 4 decades later, was from a breeder. A lovely COVID puppy husky we call Layla. I chose this route because I have kids now, and Real Responsibilities(tm), and I wanted to make sure I still had enough time, energy, and dog-fu, to give her the best "dog's life" I could.
She's an absolute joy. Definitely a "part of the family".
I'm rather hoping to get another this year, and that one will be a rescue for sure. I know I've got what it takes now, and I want to do right by at least one unfortunate creature who's not had a fair shake so far.
