"Only way?" No, not quite. How about a society that values truth, that is completely intolerant of falsehood, and that provides excellent and free education to everyone so that they can learn to tell the difference. That would work too.

You know, like say Scandinavia, Germany, New Zealand, Japan,....

It's not the internet companies; they're just in it for the money - just like every other company. It's the content creators who are to blame. It's politicians who want power by destroying the "other guy". Ethical gangrene has set in, in the US (and in many other countries); but it's not corporate, it's cultural.
