I didn't read anything in OP's article characterizing the types of comments they were on about. I took the words written at face value.

I understand that yours is a charitable interpretation of the article. This kind of charity has deep roots in philosophy and is a worthy tradition to try to uphold.

However, I've lived long enough to see this kind of charity butchered. I'm over it.
