Honest question: What is the evidence supporting this claim? What evidence did Althusser present in this regard (that you're aware of)?

Edit/addendum: There is good evidence that the overall education level of North Americans is plummeting. If education serves capitalism, then doesn't this mean that either (a) capitalism is failing too, or (b) capitalism is abandoning education as an ISA?
